I’ve been seeing comments on Reddit about how they didn’t like the way Shonda came off in that interview. While some great things were clarified re. RJP, they also talked about her tone coming off as Rege not having contributed much to the show’s success. Like the way she spoke about being surprised at the fans’ strong reaction struck people as her not appreciating RJP’s talent or not acknowledging that it’s because of how he portrayed the Duke that the show became such a monstrous success. Almost a flippant attitude towards RJP & how strongly we feel about him staying on Bridgerton. Upon 2nd glance, I have to say I agree with them.
l don’t have a problem with shonda saying that she was surprised by the fans’ reactions because the fans usually don’t react the way we did after one season or should l say after 10 episodes of a series. The whole world crying because a character they have none for 10 episodes left the show is unprecedented in the history of series/tv shows. We made history!!!
l know shonda loves regé, and l have always said that she was his biggest fan. l want to share something she said about him 2 months ago.

Shonda gets jealous when her actors get so much attention and praise. She thinks she made them, she owns them. She made them and she can break them.
No one could’ve portrayed saphne as effortlessly as phoebe and regé did. Honestly, l don’t know why and how we all got so terribly lucky to have these two amazing actors but I am so grateful. One of my favorite things about their dynamic is that saphne’s most intense and memorable moments often have very few exchange of words. Lmao. I’m cackling, this is not what y’all believe, that’s not what l’m talking about l swear hahahha. What l meant to say is that simon and daphne communicate so much non verbally…and that resonate so deeply with us viewers. And that non-verbal communication between daphne and simon is a testament to the organic chemistry and good performance by our leads.

Look at my fucking ship !! look at how imperfectly perfect they are !! We’ve eaten gucci the whole season. l could add several other scenes but l won’t !! yepp l’m bragging about it !!! this ship is a serve and l’m not used to being fed this good!! So l’m not about to shut up hahahaha.
Watching their scenes makes me feel like we are intruding and are given access to something we shouldn’t witness, their intimacy. Yeppp they’re that good!
We are so very blessed to have them, they’re pure joy. How did we get such luck?
